Image of Rhyme or Reason

A book of nursery rhymes has fallen off a shelf at Cliffe Castle Museum and the characters have spilled out into the displays. On your visit can you spot the mouse from Hickory Dickory Dock climbing one of the clocks? Pussy Cat Pussy Cat hiding under a chair? Or the characters from One Two Buckle My Shoe in the cobbler’s shop? There are over 30 rhymes to find! How many can you spot? This exhibition is for young and old alike. Alongside the nursery rhymes, which have been brought to life with the help of the displays, we are also exploring the history and possible origins of some of the rhymes. Many of the nursery rhymes, that appear innocent on the surface, may have deeper, darker meanings.
