The St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra brings an exciting all-Russian programme to St George’s Hall, opening with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 which the composer completed at the age of only 19, already sealing his international reputation as one of the greatest composers of all time. Joining the orchestra is pianist Noriko Ogawa who returns to St George’s Hall with a performance of Rachmaninov’s ever popular and lyrical Piano Concerto No. 1, also completed by the composer at an early age of 18.
