Using collections from Bradford Museums and Galleries photographic archive, this exhibition will explore themes of identity and how different generations have used photography to represent themselves. The exhibition will look at the relationship between photographer, viewer and subject and how, now, the photographer is often all three. How portraits can be deceiving, not always giving a true representation of a person. The exhibition will also look at why people were photographed, the traditional Victorian ideas around portraiture and the variety of Bradford characters portrayed in our collections. If you were being photographed today, how would you want future generations to see you?
